Your healing is my focus. I strive to help individuals discover, build, and grow their inner strengths to make healing changes in their lives. I provide a neutral space for you to share and explore while listening to your concerns and working with you to create a customized plan to guide our work together.
Kind words
"Carmen was instrumental in helping me restore balance to my life. I had bounced around from therapist to therapist for several years without progress, and she was able to help me overcome anxiety, regain perspective, and recommit to my own self-care. Her bedside manner is kind but firm, and I sensed that she truly listened to me and understood me. If you are experiencing difficult changes in your life, I wholeheartedly recommend you work with Ms. French." ~ Jeffrey S. 2022

When you choose to seek self-understanding, invest in your mental health, and make healing changes, you are saying "I matter." It is my goal to work with you to discover the changes you want and need to achieve wellness. Counseling can be beneficial to couples who want to strengthen their emotional connection in all stages of their relationship. In couples and family therapy we work to heal the relationships. We explore and address underlying sources of conflict, promote positive communication, and make changes needed to support healthy interaction and growth. Sometimes being in a natural setting can be calming and productive for the therapeutic process. I offer such sessions when it is appropriate and safe for both you, the client, and me. Variable rate depending on location and duration. A comprehensive assessment is completed with each client usually in the first or subsequent session. This is usually a 60- to 90-minute session that covers issues related to client history, presenting issues, goals for counseling and treatment planning. I can complete a thorough DUI Evaluation for your court purposes. These sessions are typically 60 minutes but can go shorter or longer, depending on the details of your case. We can conduct these sessions via telephone or telehealth (video). You must be physically in the state of Idaho at the time of the evaluation. These evaluations are generally required when a person receives a DUI charge. You will be asked to complete a few questionnaires prior to the appointment to provide a broad picture of how substance use is impacting your life. At the time of the evaluation, I will ask you several questions about your substance use, your life issues in general, and about the incident leading to your DUI charge. I provide a 24-hour turnaround on normal business days (weekends excluded). This option is available for those needing a Drug and Alcohol Evaluation either directed by the Court, or by some other entity. This evaluation considers alcohol or other substance concerns that may require targeted and supportive education or treatment. Often these types of evaluations are needed when someone is facing legal charges for substance use and other matters such as domestic violence. This evaluation consists of a series of questions focused on the ASAM's (American Society of Addiction Medicine) Six Dimensions of Addiction and Recovery. The Drug and Alcohol Evaluation considers the 'Big Picture', identifying strengths and vulnerabilities, obstacles and liabilities to recovery or sobriety, and your current needs and supports. |
**All sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. You are encouraged to choose a quiet, private space in which you can engage in sessions with your therapist.

insurance vs. private pay
I do not accept insurance. However, I am happy to provide a superbill for services so you may submit them for Out of Network (OON) consideration with your insurance carrier. It is each client's responsibility to understand your OON benefits and if mental health services are covered.
It is important for you to understand that in order for your insurance to consider your bill, they require a documented mental health diagnosis as defined in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual-V (DSM-V). Therefore, if you are looking for therapy as a preventative intervention, your insurance may not accept the claim, and therefore, may not reimburse you for such services. I am happy to discuss this with you further so you can explore and understand your options. Clients are required to have a credit/debit/HSA card on file to bill after each session.
There are a limited number of sliding-fee sessions in my practice. Please inquire about space availability.
